Pismo Coast Village and Morro Bay Car Show May 2013

This past weekend (May 3-5), we went to Pismo Coast Village with our neighbors. There was a brush fire in the area and we left when ash was falling from the sky on us. Look like a light snow but at 90 degrees. When we arrived at Pismo Beach, the temperature was 82. After setting up we all went on a walk on the beach. Did not have my camera or phone with me so didn't take any pictures but it was beautiful. Saturday morning the weather had changed and it was cold and overcast.

We met up with Jeremy Saturday morning at Morro Bay for their annual car show. Lots of cars again and lots of people. We had Roxie with us and our neighbors had their Min-Pin (Daisy). Roxie has gone with us a few times to the car show. She always gets "What a beautiful dog" and lots of petting. Had a great time but wished the weather was warmer.

We came back to the RV park and sat around socializing (snacking) and talking about the cars we had seen. Later that night, Debbie, Jeremy and I went to A.J. Spurs for dinner. After dinner, we dropped Jeremy off down town Pismo where he met his cousin Kyle. We went back to the RV park and sat around the campfire with our neighbors until it was just to cold to stay out.

Sunday we got up and had to start breaking down camp. Jeremy left around 10:00. Got a call from one of our HitchHiker RV friends (Bob and Tricia, "Ourside" on the HH forum) we met at the RV show a few years ago. They were there at the RV park and saw our trailer. Debbie, Roxie and I went over to say "Hi" for about twenty minutes then we had to hit the road. Wind blew us all over the road till we got to Gaviota Pass. Took us about 2:40 minutes to get home. Longer than normal due to a few traffic jams. All in all, we had a great time but way to short. It seemed like we just got there when we started putting stuff away for the trip back home. Until next next time.

Pismo Coast Village Mar 2013

We finally got a chance to go out camping with David and Donna. They have been "full timing" in their Mobile Suites RV since 2010. We met up with them in Bakersfield on their first swing back in June 2011. They had planned on working on the Rose Parade floats for Dec 2012 and were going to head this way after that. They arrived in Port Hueneme on Jan 2 and were here for 2 1/2 months. We ate out or had dinner at our place several times plus we went biking, went to a car show and also went to the Reagan Library. We first had planned on meeting them at Ocean Mesa for the first week in Feburary but problems with our HH squashed that. So we planned a trip to Pismo. They left Port Hueneme early Friday Mar 15 and we left at 2:00pm. Arrived at 4:30 to a packed campground. Our sites were on the corner of the inside streets and real close to highway 1. Pretty noise during the day but not so bad at night. Weather was nice in the mornings but turn cold and windy in the afternoon. That was OK because we got to use our new fireplace in the HH. We said our good-byes to David and Donna on Sunday as we head for home and they continue on. Safe travels to them and till we meet again.

New Years 2013 Lake Lopez

Debbie, Roxie and I met up with Rick and Kay for New Years at Lake Lopez. We used to go too Laughlin for New Years but we decided to try someplace else closer. We had a real nice visit with Rick and Kay. Weather was raining for the first day but cleared up.  Debbie, Roxie and I did several walks around the campground and had a couple of nights sitting around the campfire. This was our first trip with the new paint scheme on the HitchHiker. Lots of wild life this time. When checking in at the office, there was a flock of wild turkeys in the parking lot. One day we counted nine deer going through our area of the campground. Woodpeckers seem to be everywhere. We even heard them on our roof. Rick said that the woodpeckers put acorns in the holes of the trees to be used for food during the winter. I have a photo of one of the trees behind our site just full of acorns. I even found some acorns in the TV antenna on the HH when we got home. We had a great time with Rick and Kay and have missed our trips that we have had in the past. Hopefully the economy improves and we can do this more often.

Wine Country RV Resort Thanksgiving 2012

Debbie, Roxie and I left after work on Tuesday Nov 20, 2012 and drove the truck and HitchHiker  to Wine Country RV Resort located in Paso Robles. We choose this place because it was half way between us and San Jose where Jeremy lives. Debbie and I planned on cooking Thanksgiving dinner in the trailer. We even had a turkey. Both Brandon and Jeremy came up or down on Thanksgiving day. Roxie was happy to have both her boys there. Weather was nice for the end of November. On Saturday Connie stopped by with her new puppy. We introduced Roxie to their pup and they seemed to get along. Jeremy left for home Saturday afternoon while Brandon stayed with us and went to dinner with Don, Connie, Debbie and I Saturday night.  Then we got up Sunday morning and both headed for home before the rush. Here is some photos of our site we were in at Wine Country RV Resort.
